Bio

Kohei Urakami is a visual artist and musician, currently residing in Washington DC. He was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1994. He grew up both in Japan and the U.S, which let him absorb various cultures and aesthetic values that surrounded him. He began studying at Corcoran College of Art + Design (later George Washington University Corcoran School of the Arts) in 2012 where he started working heavily in various printmaking techniques. Urakami focuses on creating abstract landscapes with detailed drawings and printing processes, exploring with the idea of creation and disposal of memories and consciousness. He is also active in the local punk music community and played in multiple bands / organized events involving musicians from all over the world.
